MUSICAL THEATRE is a combination of song, spoken dialogue and dance and requires people with the ability to combine these skills into a strong and vibrant performance.  It is therefore important that the training for a musical theatre student is designed to increase their talents and develop their full potential to become a Triple-Threat performer.

Divided into technique and performance, the first half of the course will concentrate on dance, vocals and acting technique with a midyear assessment.  The second half will focus on performance and working towards the end of year musical and showcases.

DANCING

Along with physical stamina, flexibility and coordination, a Dancer requires grace, a sense of rhythm, feeling for music and a creative ability to express themselves through movement.  Our curriculum includes Jazz, Broadway Jazz, Lyrical Jazz, contemporary Hip Hop, Tap,  Classical Ballet and Ballroom dancing.  In addition, students will study the diversity of musical theatre dance, it styles and choreographers.

SINGING

With the right combination of vocal exercises to improve your voice, our classes will help you master correct vocal technique and improve your singing voice by learning how to use it effectively without causing damage and how to increase your vocal ranges. Curriculum includes: solo, group, Repertoire & Musical Theatre

ACTING/DRAMA

The sound of the human voice tells an audience an enormous amount about a personality, an emotion or what a character is thinking. These classes will enable you to explore drama thru expression and character interpretation by developing monologues and improving your acting skills.  These skills in turn enhance the presentation and storytelling required for song and dance. Studies include TV and film, improvisation and audition techniques.

AUDITION PREPARATION

The audition process is the first step to obtaining work and we are fully committed to having you primed and ready to succeed to enable you to have a long and exciting career in the performing arts. To ensure this, all students will leave the course with a portfolio of a variety of songs and monologues and have experienced all dance styles applicable to the industry.

PERFORMANCE TRAINING

The development of performance skills is a vital part of being a Triple Threat.  With opportunities to perform, students will be given a platform to present themselves as polished stage performers.

3 major performances are planned for 2012:
